Frequently asked questions
Where do my receipts go?
The receipt image itself stays on your iPhone — we never upload photos. To categorize, match baskets, and power trends, we send the parsed text (store, total, line items, date) to our servers, encrypted in transit and at rest. We don't sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it to train models.
How does the 7-day free trial work?
You get 7 days of full access after you start a subscription — no charge until the trial ends, and you can cancel in one tap from iPhone Settings before then. If you don't cancel, the subscription renews at the price you picked.
Which iPhones are supported?
Budget Lens AI runs on iPhone with iOS 16 or later.
How do I cancel my subscription?
One tap: open iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Budget Lens AI → Cancel. Access continues until the end of the billing period. Apple manages all subscriptions — we don't have a lock-in flow.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for subscriptions are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the Budget Lens AI purchase, and request a refund. We do not have the ability to issue refunds directly.
What happens to my data if I delete the app?
On-device data (receipt images, local history) is removed when you delete the app. Server-side data tied to your account (parsed receipts, categories, trends) can be deleted any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. Once deleted, it's gone.
How do I export my data?
Open Profile → Export. Pick a period (this month, last month, last 3 months, last 12 months, year to date, or all time) and choose PDF or CSV. The file renders on your iPhone and shares through the standard iOS share sheet — Files, email, AirDrop, anything you have set up.
Will I get summary emails?
If you opt in, yes. A monthly recap email arrives on the 1st of every month, and a quarterly recap on the 1st of January, April, July, and October. Both default on; toggle either off any time from Profile → Notifications.
How does Smart Basket compare prices?
Smart Basket uses the receipts you've already scanned. It checks the items in your basket against your own purchase history at every store you've shopped, then recommends the cheapest match. When the data is thin, the app surfaces a confidence note instead of a confident recommendation.
